Getting here from Ashby
North on the A514 through Melbourne, or up the A42 and across at Castle Donington. Around twenty minutes either way, and the Melbourne road is the nicer drive.
Commuter miles are where the money is
Ashby sits on the A42 and M42 corridor, which means a lot of people here are doing real distance to Birmingham, Leicester or Nottingham every working day, usually in a company or lease diesel.
That is the single best case for an economy map. The saving comes from sitting in a higher gear at lower revs and using less throttle to hold a motorway speed, and it only adds up if you're covering the miles. On 20,000 to 25,000 a year it is a number worth having. On 5,000 a year of local trips it isn't, and we'd tell you so.
Tell us your annual mileage and roughly what you're getting to the gallon now, and we'll give you a realistic view on what it would save rather than a percentage.
Lease or company car?
Worth checking your agreement first, because some lease contracts restrict modifications. We keep your original file, so the car can go back to standard before it's handed back. Same with insurance: a remap is declarable whether the car is yours or the company's.
What we do
Economy and performance remapping, Stage 1, diesel and van work. Emissions equipment left alone, always.
How long before it pays for itself?
Depends entirely on your mileage and how you drive afterwards, which is why we ask rather than quote a figure. On high commuter mileage the sums usually work. On low mileage they don't, and we would rather tell you that than take the booking. Send us your mileage and current MPG and we'll do the maths with you.
